Queen Elizabeth died on the 8th of September, 2022. The world has mourned the Queen's death. As the majority of people are mourning the Queen, however, some vile trolls and groups of people appear to be rejoicing, celebrating and mocking the death of Queen Elizabeth. Celebrating and mocking the death of Elizabeth included people that called on indigenous groups to celebrate - and those who say that things "would heal", as in the case of Tina Ngata, who seized on the opportunity to have a totally inappropriate discussion at the most inappropriate time: Others included white supremacists and Groypers who either couldn't care less about her death, or were celebrating also because most of the present day members of the Monarchy (including the Queen) align with modern day values which include diversity, inclusion and progressive values, including social justice. Note the irony of this is that they are celebrating her death for the opposite reasons of which those who identify as progressive OR anti colonialist celebrated her death for. Some were actually trolling, in a really vile way. This individual in the screenshot below is threading exceedingly on thin ice - this tweet comes really, really close to breaking the law, if this individual has not committed a crime or broke the law through this tweet yet. It also violates the rules on abuse and harassment and posting private media. It could likely violate the rules on manipulated media policy and possibly even platform manipulation and spam, since there is obvious signs that there has been some photoshopping done. And even if the image is manipulated, it will still likely break the law as this is a breach of privacy/trust as the image of the patient is almost certainly real. NOTE: RIP Bozo The blurred person is a hospital patient who is either really sick, terminally ill and at end of life, or has already passed away. Next to the patient, is a man who appears to be posing and taking a selfie next to the patient. However, this image appears to have been manipulated - as there are inconsistences on the outlines of the man. We have censored the identity and the image of the patient above, in accordance with privacy laws and also out of respect to the patient and their family. We don't know if the guy (on the right and not censored) in the image is the individual running the account or not. We have reported the tweet also for abusive behavior and privacy violations. Note that in this context of the phrase "RIP Bozo", it was used to cheerfully mock and praise the Queen's death. More vile tweets can be found in this link, as embeds. The next one is an example from a spam bot account, who has posted an incredibly inappropriate comment on a post from Sky News about the Queen's death. It is not uncommon, unfortunately - Twitter is rife with spam bots, bots, catfish profiles and other fake accounts who cause this issue also. The only difference between this one and the other examples is that not only is spam comments like this are a constant issue, but it isn't limited to just the Queen. These sort of comments appear under any news article, even sometimes on ordinary people's timelines. The comment above is not only offensive due to the timing, but it violates the rules on platform manipulation and spam. The account too, is problematic due to the nature of the profile and barely a follower count. The account in question is highly problematic, it is either a deepfake, or a bot account that could be part of a malicious bot farm run and operated by bad actors. You can tell straight away that this is not a troll, but it is a spam bot account - from the userhandle (anything with a several digit code figure in their name should always be treated as suspicious), to the join date and only four followers. The repetitive replies are also an immediate tell tale that the account is fake. Also, in this case, the profile information is accompanied by a link, which, in this case I have blurred it out on purpose for safety reasons. (Don't click any links in these spam bots' profiles as these could harm your devices or steal personal information and/or passwords) Under no circumstance is it OK to celebrate, troll or mock the Queen's death. And colonialism is not an excuse either - you can debate British colonialism at a time where it is OK to do so, but not when people are mourning, and gleefully cheering her death is not OK at all. There is a time and a place for everything, but not when people are mourning.
Anyone who is cheering or praising the death of Queen Elizabeth, should be reported to Twitter - this comes under Twitter's abusive behavior policy. We should rise above trolling and online bullying - and be respectful of other people, including public figures that you don't like/or don't agree with. We can disagree with her actions or her values, but we also need to be respectful in a time of mourning, just as with any other person who has died. And if you can't be respectful or nice while saying something, it's best to not say anything at all.

The maniac responsible for the brutal killing of 22 year old Grace Millane, can now be named in New Zealand as Jesse Shane Kempson (JSK - abbv.).
Name suppression laws were lifted yesterday, after his appeals failed. He is also charged with rape, assault and other multiple offences involving violence. As a result, we can now start an investigation into any other social media account that is suspected to have ties to him, or belongs to him, which we will do after the New Year. Currently, we have identified two Twitter accounts that are suspicious, and may have some connection to him. We will not disclose these - until we can confirm that they are operated by the murderer, as there may be a possibility that another innocent person sharing the same or similar name with the killer - owns those accounts. This is because we have seen previous high profile cases - such as the murder of James Bulger - and that of the Christchurch terror attacks - where there have been fears that people with similar names to the perpetrators have been subject to online abuse and threats. Also, we do not want to end up getting an account which turns out to be run by a completely innocent person with the same name, and not at all tied to the case - suspended. Anyone with information surrounding Kempson's Twitter accounts - can send us a message through the contact form. CardFax, a documentary page, which documents some of Britain's worst and most notorious trolls - including Nicky Wright - has been slapped with a permanent Twitter suspension. It is unclear what has brought about the suspension, although there are suspicions that Wright and Card's friends have coordinated a mass reporting effort - in perhaps a similar way we do when it comes to reporting Nazis on Twitter (barring the posting out accounts for report) - to try to bring the CardFax twitter page down, and this time, with unfortunate success. Only a few days ago, Twitter had restricted the account of CardFax. This is not a surprise, as this is also a similar tactic used and employed (and abused) by far right trolls to coordinate mass suspensions of anti fascists, democrat accounts and other social justice advocates around the world, on Twitter. Twitter, in this instance, has done the wrong thing and taken a useful page down, while, as always, takes quite a long time to ban Nazis, hateful accounts and incels. This goes to show that Twitter can ban anyone without a good reason - and that includes anti bullying awareness accounts. And this also proves that Twitter can leave hateful and violent accounts up, and allow those accounts to harass others. This makes it become clear that there needs to be regulations around the reporting system (to make sure that the reporting system isn't being abused, in addition to Twitter taking reports of violations seriously) - and also on what content can be posted to Twitter and what is not allowed there, especially a year after the Christchurch Mosque attacks and multiple Anti Semitic attacks in synagogues worldwide. However, the good news is that this does not mean that Nicky Wright is no longer being documented for his abuse and harassment. He has been suspended dozens of times before - just like Gigi and her white supremacist group members. Every new account he makes, we will document it on this site. And any move he makes that is of interest, or may be newsworthy - we will post it in the dedicated section in this site. UPDATE: @Card_fax is now back on Twitter, as the person behind the documentary page had appealed the suspension. Their website is down, however. SECOND UPDATE: It appears that Twitter has reversed their decision to reinstate @Card_fax, and the account is now permanently suspended, with little chance of it coming back.
Police and the New Zealand electoral commission are investigating claims of suspected voter fraud after a Twitter user openly boasted about voting at different booths, in multiple and different places, and at different times.
The account - @4Tswizzle - who is now suspended, perhaps due to the Twitter Rules on Civic and Election integrity, openly bragged about voting at least twice on Twitter, and has provided information on how to vote in a fraudulent manner. The user also boasted that that said user was going to keep casting votes until election day.
The tweets were reported by other users to the New Zealand police - and to Twitter, who made the decision to suspend the account around a day later.
A police spokesperson confirmed the complaint made by the Electoral commission, and have stated that they would be investigating the matter. Any new information that you have about the now suspended account relating to the voter fraud case should be forwarded to the New Zealand police.
Twitter has suspended the account of David Duke, a former Klansman leader, just yesterday for violating the rules on hateful conduct.
The suspension comes after Twitter suspended the accounts of 50+ white nationalist and supremacist accounts, including Martin Sellner, Stefan Molyneux and the French branch of Generation Identity a few weeks ago. Also, just last month, Ashley Rae Groypenberg has been suspended for unspecified violations. A few days ago, Donald Trump Jr. was slapped with a 12 hour temporary Twitter suspension for tweeting misinformation relating to false claims about coronavirus cures. Earlier this year in June, Twitter permanently suspended Katie Hopkins for violating the rules on hateful conduct. David Duke has also been temporarily suspended in 2017 for associating himself with Unite The Right rally. He has also been convicted of tax fraud after pleading guilty to the crime, and has spent a year in prison for it in 2002, in the US. It appears that Twitter is finally starting to take things seriously and crack down on white supremacy, hate and violence associated with it. While the suspension of David Duke comes as an immense relief to many activists and anti fascists, it has taken too long for Twitter to act on his tweets and content, which are in clear violation of the rules in many ways, including hateful conduct and violent extremism. Twitter needs to enforce the rules on public figures and verified accounts in the same way that twitter does with ordinary users, and be very firm and consistent in moderating hateful content. |
